Australian rock legends
AC/DC is a band known throughout the world by people of different generations and views. Their music and energy shook up rock and gave fans of the genre legendary hits. They were among those who pioneered hard rock and influenced the development of heavy metal.
Development of AC/DC
The band was founded in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus Young and Malcolm Young, and the following year they were joined by vocalist Bon Scott. They gradually gained popularity, from their first albums, which topped the charts in Australia, to record-breaking sales, which took the world by storm and won prestigious awards.
The band experienced ups and downs in popularity, particularly in the 1980s after the death of Bon Scott. There are two golden eras in the history of AC/DC: era of Bon Scott and era of Brian Johnson, the latter of which continues to this day. As of 2026, the band consists of Angus Young (lead guitar), Brian Johnson (vocals), Stevie Young (rhythm guitar), Chris Chaney (bass guitar), and Matt Laug (drums).
