DakhaBrakha: Ukrainian ethno band

DakhaBrakha is a Ukrainian music band with four members: Olena Tsybulska, Iryna Kovalenko, Nina Harenetska, and Marko Halanevych. DakhaBrakha's music combines ethnic elements, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar folk songs, motifs collected during folklore expeditions, as well as elements of hip-hop, soul, and blues. The band itself describes its style as ethno-chaos.

DakhaBrakha performs in an authentic manner, using a wide range of instruments, including bass drum, cello, flute, percussion, accordion, ukulele, and djembe. The musicians are also known for their traditional stage costumes, especially their tall sheepskin hats.

The emergence of DakhaBrakha

DakhaBrakha's history began in 2004, when the band started performing live. Their first appearances took place at ethnic music festivals and at the Dakh Theater. Between 2006 and 2016, DakhaBrakha released their debut album "Na dobranich" and then five more records, including "Yahudky", "Light", and "The Road". Over the years, the band has performed at many major festivals, including Bonnaroo (USA), WOMAD New Zealand (New Zealand), Roskilde (Denmark), and Sziget Festival (Hungary).

DakhaBrakha's music

One of DakhaBrakha's most successful albums, "Alambari", was released in 2020 and included the songs "Dostochka", "Sonnet", and others. The tracks "Monakh", "Oi ishov chumak", and "Chorna khmara" from the album "The Road", the song "Sho z-pod duba" from the album "Yahudky", and the compositions "Karpatskyi rep", "Sukhyi dub", and "Baby" from the album "Light" also became especially popular. In 2025, DakhaBrakha presented the album "Ptakh" with the songs "9 nedilechok", "Kozak", the joint track with Serhiy Zhadan "Ptakh", and others.

DakhaBrakha live concerts

DakhaBrakha is one of the Ukrainian bands that actively tours worldwide and performs at international music festivals. DakhaBrakha concerts are especially popular abroad, and the band often tours across America and Europe. In 2026, the group plans concerts in many European countries, including France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Spain.
