A Project That Fosters Culture

MUR is a creative collective that balances its activities between producing historical musicals, concerts, lectures, music albums, including songs based on poems by Ukrainian writers, documentary films, and educational videos. The project also has its own educational award named after Pavlo Tychyna. MUR's main focus is culture - its promotion, nurturing, and reinterpretation. The team strives to make culture come alive and feel accessible to everyone who encounters it.

The MUR team includes Oleksandr Khomenko, director and screenwriter; Viktor Tkachenko, composer; Maria Oreilly, editor; Mykola Shmundir, cinematographer and film producer; Oleksandr Zaika, actor and singer; and other artists who contribute to individual projects.

The Founding of MUR

The project was founded in the spring of 2022 by Oleksandr Khomenko, Viktor Tkachenko, and Mykola Shmundir. Initially, MUR was created to tell Ukrainians about the tragedy of repressed artists and spark young people's interest in national literature. However, the longer the project exists, the more creative facets the team uncovers.

Notable MUR Productions

A distinctive part of MUR's work is its historical musicals, the genre that brought the collective its first breakthrough and widespread recognition. It all began with "Ty [Romantyka]", which evolved from a music album into a stage production and later into a full-length film adaptation of the musical. Another notable MUR project is "REBELLIA [1991]" - a musical about the people who restored Ukraine's independence; an album with the same title was also released.

In addition to these works, MUR's discography includes the albums "Захалявна книжечка" (2022), "PAX ROMANA" (2024), and "MUR (Vol. 1)."

MUR: Ukraine and the World

Almost every new MUR project involves large-scale tours. In addition to performances in Ukraine, MUR has already conquered stages in Poland and the Czech Republic.

MUR's work is most often experienced live in the form of musicals. In 2027, "REBELLIA [1991]" will be performed in Europe. In addition, MUR organizes lectures, public discussions, and educational programs.
