Parov Stelar – pioneer of electro swing

Musician, DJ, and producer Marcus Füreder, better known by his stage name Parov Stelar, is one of the most successful Austrian artists on the international scene and is considered one of the creators of the electro-swing music style. In his music, Parov Stelar combines elements of jazz, house, breakbeat, IDM, nu-jazz, deep house, and downtempo. His tracks are characterized by a danceable sound and often blend retro with modern rhythms.

How Parov Stelar Got Started

Marcus Füreder has been passionate about art, particularly music, since childhood. His first steps toward international recognition were performances as a DJ in clubs, at the time under his own name or the pseudonym Plasma. To fully realize his creative vision, the artist founded his own music label, Etage Noir Recordings, under which he still works today. It was from the moment the project was founded that he began performing under the pseudonym Parov Stelar and released his first album, Rough Cuts (2004), which brought him international success.

Parov Stelar’s discography includes more than 15 albums, several EPs, and dozens of singles. His most successful albums, which have achieved gold status in Austria: The Princess (2012), The Art of Sampling (2013), The Demon Diaries (2015), and The Burning Spider (2017). Among the tracks that can be heard at almost every one of the artist’s performances – as they are particularly beloved by fans – are “All Night,” “Booty Swing,” “The Sun,” and “Catgroove.” Parov Stelar’s music is also actively used in the film industry, particularly in movies and TV series produced in the US, Germany, and France.
