Tonya Matvienko grew up in a creative family. Her mother, the celebrated Ukrainian singer Nina Matvienko, had a profound influence on her artistic development. Tonya first experienced life on tour at the age of ten, when she traveled to the United States with her mother.

She began her professional education at a music school, specializing in choral conducting. She later graduated from the Kyiv Institute of Culture and Arts with a degree in folk singing.

Tonya Matvienko built her career step by step: she worked as a soloist with the Kyiv Camerata ensemble, reached the final of the Ukrainian talent show "The Voice," and recorded a joint album with Nina Matvienko. She later focused on her solo career and her own musical projects.

Tonya Matvienko's early solo repertoire included the songs "Тобі," "А може ти," "Мавка," and "Дивна квітка." Her later releases include "Сік землі," "Ліхтарики," "Душа," and "Містами," while "Кульбаби" became one of her best-known hits. Another notable recording is the duet "Я нікому тебе не віддам" with Roman Skorpion.
