Without finishing his studies, Bob moved to New York in 1961, where he performed in clubs. In 1962, the musician released his debut album, consisting mainly of folk songs, as it was folk music that had previously captivated the artist. Although this record was not successful, the real breakthrough came with his second album. The Freewheelin' was released in the spring of 1963 and featured many of his own songs that raised issues that were not easy at the time, including one of his most famous, “Blowin' in the Wind”.

The third album, The Times They Are A-Changin', featured songs that were directly related to the events of the time. The musician recorded the next album in one evening. Bob Dylan confirmed his new sound with the release of the album Bringing It All Back Home in 1965. That same year, the album Highway 61 Revisited was released, along with the single “Like a Rolling Stone”. The song reached high positions in the US and UK charts, and many years later, Rolling Stone magazine named it the best song of all time.

In 1966, Bob Dylan released his seventh studio album, Blonde on Blonde, and then went on tour. After returning from the tour, the artist was involved in a motorcycle accident, after which he decided to take a break. The following year, Bob Dylan released John Wesley Harding, an album of short songs inspired by the Bible and the American West. Two years later, the album Nashville Skyline was released, where Bob Dylan sounded softer and demonstrated his vocal range.

In the 1970s, Self Portrait was released, an album that included songs by other musicians. Despite negative reviews from critics, the album reached high positions in the charts.
