History of Queen

Queen, the band that forever changed rock music and became one of the most outstanding musical groups of all time, appeared in its legendary lineup in 1971.

Today, the songs of Queen continue to live on in powerful orchestral arrangements. They can be heard in the symphonic rock show Legendary Rock Voices, where legendary rock hits are reimagined in epic symphonic form.

Queen's debut album was released in 1973 and was not very successful. The next album, Queen II, was released in the spring of 1974, and the photo on the album cover is one of the most iconic in the band's history. This release was much more successful than the previous one, the album entered the British charts. It was in Queen II that the band's style, diversity of sound, imaginative lyrics, and virtuosity began to emerge.

The band's third album, also released in 1974, Sheer Heart Attack, was no less successful, reaching number two in the British charts and achieving gold status in the US. The fourth album, A Night at the Opera, which was the most expensive to record, was released in 1975. It included Queen's legendary song "Bohemian Rhapsody," which has been streamed more than 2.7 billion times to date. In addition to this single, the album itself was incredibly successful and is still considered one of the best albums of all time. In 1976, Queen presented A Day at the Races, which included the song "Somebody to Love."

The sixth album, News of the World, featured the hits "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions." The next album, Jazz, featured the hit song "Don't Stop Me Now," which was followed by a tour in support of the album.

The 1980s were marked by the release of the album The Game, three concerts at Madison Square Garden, and winning the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Single. In addition, in 1981, the cult song "Under Pressure" was released, recorded with David Bowie. Their tenth album, Hot Space, was released in 1982 and surprised listeners with its mix of different musical styles, receiving mixed reviews from fans. After a creative hiatus, Queen released the album The Works in 1984, which included songs "Radio Ga Ga," "I Want to Break Free," and "Hammer to Fall."

In 1985, Queen performed at the Live Aid festival, which became one of the most memorable performances of the band's career. The following year, Queen released the album A Kind of Magic, after which they went on tour, the last with Freddie Mercury. Two years later, he was diagnosed with HIV. Despite this, in 1989, Queen released the album The Miracle, which was also named the band's best album of the 1980s.

In 1991, the album Innuendo was released, which included the single "The Show Must Go On." In the fall of that year, Freddie Mercury passed away. In 1992, the musicians played a concert in memory of Freddie Mercury, which also featured performances by many famous artists and bands.

After Mercury's death, Queen released another album featuring his vocals. Made in Heaven was released in 1995 and topped the British charts. Despite the tragic events and John Deacon leaving the band, Queen continued to create music.

After that, they began collaborating as the project Queen + Paul Rodgers until 2009, released a joint album The Cosmos Rocks and toured around the world. The band also performed with Adam Lambert. In 2014, the band released the compilation album Queen Forever, which featured previously unreleased recordings. Two years later, the band played the Queen + Adam Lambert 2016 Summer Festival Tour, and in 2022, they performed together at Buckingham Palace. In 2025, Queen released reissues of their albums, with a total of 10 records: Epic, Heavy, Riffs, Pop, Anthems, Funk, Ballads, Slightly Mad, Rock N Roll, B-Sides, and Acoustic.
